About Sigiriya
Sigiriya (Lion Rock) is an ancient rock fortress built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD. Rising dramatically from the surrounding plains, it features magnificent frescoes of celestial maidens, the famous Mirror Wall, and the ruins of a royal palace at the summit with breathtaking 360-degree views. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982, Sigiriya is considered one of the best preserved examples of ancient urban planning in the world.
